Wildcats own Chelsea with sweep

Jessica Pennington posted nine of her game-high 12 points in the second half to lead Shelby County to a 36-32 season sweeping victory over Chelsea Friday to improve to 3-0 in the area and complete a season sweep of the Hornets.
&8220;It&8217;s always been a big game and physical game [against Chelsea],&8221; said Wildcats head coach Leroy Miles, Jr.
The sweep of the Hornets puts the Cats within two victories of securing the Class 5A, Area 6 title.
Morgan Arnold led Chelsea with 11 points.
-Kingwood Christian 55, Cornerstone Christian 31: Serina Bourassa led Kingwood (11-2) with 16 points, including four 3-point baskets. Dee Marshall and Hannah Phillips added 12 each. Mandi Hawkins had 12 for Cornerstone.
-Shades Mountain Christian 52, Brairwood Christian 47: Ruth Ketchum led the Lady Lions with 20 points.
-Spain Park 56, Wheeler (Georgia) 47: The Jaguars (10-8) were led by Meghan Dunn with 20 points, eight boards and seven steals. Stephanie Dominguez scored 15 points while dishing out five assists and Laura Kneiss scored 12.
-Evangel Christian 54, Tabernacle Christian 49: Hannah Letson scored 25 paints and grabbed 15 boards for Evangel (6-3).
-Montevallo 59, Shelby County 44: The Bulldogs (8-1. 3-1) were led by Candice Fields with 16 points, Sequoia Peeples with 12 and Alisha Gentry with 11.
-Montevallo 51, Gordo 14: Fields once again led the Lady Dawgs with 13 pionts. She was followed by Shanise Hudson with eight points and Jordan Archer with seven.
-Chelsea 54, Chilton County 32: The Hornets were led by Sydney Arnold with 21 points and eight boards and Stephanie Hollis with 11 points in this Jan. 2 encounter.
-Coosa Valley Academy 44, Shelby Academy 26: Kimberli Rutledge led the Lady Rebels with 31 points and 13 rebounds .
-Coosa Valley Academy 48, East Memorial 16: Rutledge led the Rebels with 19 points while Mandy Bliss scored 11. Tyger Paris contributed eight points and eight rebounds.
-Grissom 46, Spain Park 34: Laura Kneiss paced 9-8 Spain Park with 12 points while Meghan Dunn scored 10.
-Briarwood 65, Parker 32: Ruth Ketchum scored 31 points while Whitney Dailey scored nine and Becca Stephens scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Lions (8-11).
-Altamont 49, Calera 38:
-Vincent 54, Fayetteville 40: Adreain Datcher led the Yellow Jackets with 22 points, while Shonda Dates scored 16 and Neisha Dates scored 11. Shonda Dates had nine board while Neish Dates grabbed eight for 3-9 Vincent.
-Kingwood Christian 47, Springwood 23: Hannah Phillps led Kingwood with 19 points while Serina Bourassa had 10.
-Evangel Christian 45 and Chilton Christian 41: Hannah Letson scored 18 points and grabbed nine boards for 5-3 Evangel.
-Thompson 71, Pelham 44: The Warriors (16-4) were led by Rhonda Watts with 21 points and 10 boards. Chasity Herron contributed 12 points, 12 boards and eight steals while Christina Shelton scored 11 points and had four assists for the Warriors. Whitney Billings paced Pelham (14-4) with 11.
-Oak Mountain 51, Heueytown 29: Lauren Miller led the Eagles (10-9) with 17 points and four assists.
-Pelham 73, Shelby County 26: Ally Slaughter led Pelham with 15 points, followed by Jordin Mauk
14, Whitney Billings with 12 and Lindsey Young with 10. Kesha Pickett scored nine for Shelby County
