Shelby County property owners looking to avoid the Jan. 1 delinquency deadline now have another option for paying their taxes.

The Property Tax Commissioner&8217;s office launched its new online payment system Nov. 16. The system can be reached by logging on to Shelby County&8217;s official website.

&8220;This certainly could save us a lot of paper,&8221; said Commissioner Don Armstrong. &8220;And it&8217;s pretty easy to do.&8221;

Shelby County will continue to offer its traditional payment options, including the drop box located outside the Property Tax Commissioner&8217;s Office in Columbiana.

Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The office will be closed for the holidays Nov. 23-24 and Dec. 25-26. Ad valorem taxes become delinquent Jan. 1
