Playoff bound Warriors dominate Paul Bryant

The playoff bound 6A Thompson Warriors made an easy time of last Friday night&8217;s game, going on the road to defeat Region 5 opponent Paul Bryant 42-14.

The win improved the Warriors to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in region play.

Thompson head football coach Brian Maner talked about the good defensive play of his team against Paul Bryant, but said the win was &8220;a good team effort.&8221;

The game also gave a lot of players a chance to get some playing time, Maner said.

The Warriors rushed for 262 yards and passed for 58 yards for 320 total yards while holding Paul Bryant to 235 total yards.

Thompson quarterback Alan Reeves completed four of 10 passes for 58 yards. Adrian Marcus rushed nine times for 108 yards and two touchdowns and Sideeq Cooper rushed six times for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively the Warriors were led by Paul Bennett with 10 tackles, Matt Treherne with eight tackles and Keith Cooperwood with seven tackles.

The Warriors will next travel to 6A Homewood in a non-region match. Maner said the game could still have an affect on the playoff picture, as far as tiebreakers might be concerned.
