Shelby County Sheriff investigators have arrested and charged a man with two counts of attempted murder after a shooting in Chelsea last week.
Birmingham resident Thomas Joseph Callander was charged with one count of possession of a firearm with an altered serial number in addition to the attempted murder charges.
Callander was arrested near Highway 280 and Valleydale Road on Sept. 25.
According to a Shelby County Sheriff&8217;s Office report, two men arrived at the parking lot of the Chelsea Corners shopping center around 9:30 the same night, with one of the men reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound.
Thomas Horton was transported from Chelsea to a local hospital after members of the Chelsea Citizens Observer Patrol (C.O.P.) group contacted the Sheriff&8217;s office.
According to the report, the second individual&8217;s name was withheld because he was a minor.
Callander was being held in Shelby County jail on $510,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.
Sheriff officials would not comment on the investigation into the possible motives behind the shooting.
Officers from the Hoover Police Department and the Alabama State Patrol aided in the arrest of Callander
