Clayton V. Reuse

Clayton V. Reuse, age 52 of Indian Springs, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006.

Clayton was born in Bedford, Ohio and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University. He moved with his family to the Birmingham area in 1970 and began his career working with Honeywell before starting his own temperature control business, Alabama Controls, in Pelham. Clayton was an avid stock car racing enthusiast and a promoter of the Birmingham International Raceway in the early &8216;80&8217;s. Clayton always had an interest in flying and at the age of 50 obtained his private pilot&8217;s license. In addition to his passion for flying, he enjoyed spending time working on racecars in the shop with his two sons, traveling with his wife and friends, and gatherings with his family. He was a long time member of the professional organization, ASHRAE, and the Birmingham Aero Club.

Clayton was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Hopson. He is survived by his father, Lester (Evelyn) Reuse; wife, Kathy Reuse; the mother of his children, Ruth Beaumont (Barney) Cook; his sons, Roger (Meredith) Reuse and Bobby Reuse; stepsons, Brian (Julie) Eiler and Chad (Ashley) Eiler; brothers, Glenn (Maureen) Reuse and Ronnie (Elizabeth) Reuse; nephew, Chuck (Julie) Reuse; niece, Kelli (Scott) Bard; and eight grandchildren, Shelby Reuse, Zachary Smith, Rachel, Ryan and Robbie Reuse, Cole Eiler, and Logan and Mia Eiler. Clayton loved life the fullest and will be missed by many.

Visitation was held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5-7 p.m. and funeral services were Thursday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clayton Reuse ASHRAE Scholarship Fund, PO Box 59686, Birmingham, 35259. Ridout&8217;s Southern Heritage directed.
