Ward recognized for animal rights legislation

Alabama Representative Cam Ward was presented with the Humane State Legislator Award by the Humane Society of the United States Monday at the Alabaster city council meeting.
Ward was recognized &8220;for his continued support of animal-friendly legislation in the Alabama Legislature,&8221; Humane Society spokesperson Mindy Gilbert said.
&8220;Representative Ward has been a true advocate for the humane treatment of pets and other animals.&8221;
Gilbert said that Ward has worked hard to pass a number of bills over the past legislative sessions.
&8220;We are thankful for his continued efforts.&8221;
Shelby County Commissioner Ted Crockett praised Ward for his efforts in the legislature.
&8220;If it is true that dog is man&8217;s best friend, than it is a true fact that Cam Ward is dog&8217;s best man,&8221; he said
