Quinton M. Guin

Graveside services for Mr. Quinton M. Guin were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at Blanche Cemetery in Blanche, Tenn.

He passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Brother Jeff Bennet presided.

Mr. Guin was born June 23, 1925 in Jemison to Luther and Pauline Headley Guin. He lived most of his life in Shelby County and in Taft, Tenn. He was a retired businessman, with experience in many fields.

After a long career in the finance and loan industry, Mr. Guin entered the recreational vehicle business, winning numerous awards for his work with Winnebago.

Never one to be satisfied with his success, Mr. Guin then entered the pest control industry, where he holds several patents on innovative pest control products. Mr. Guin served in the United States Army Air Corps in 1945-1946, and continued his service with Aircraft Maintenance from 1947-1948.

Later Mr. Guin obtained his private pilots license.

Mr. Guin&8217;s track record for civic service has always been a priority.

He served as a Member of the Calera Alabama Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the National Chamber of Commerce.

He has served on the Board of Directors for the Birmingham Better Business Bureau and served as President for the Recreational Vehicle Dealers of Alabama.

Mr. Guin was a Mason, Scottish Rite and a Shriner-member since 1955. He was also a member of the Seniors Coalition in Washington, D.C.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just working.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Foye and Wayne Guin and niece, Vanessa Sholley. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Guin of Texas and Gail (Schuyler) Craft of Taft, Tenn.; brother, Orvin (Doris) Guin of Jemison; four grandchildren, Tracie Hardin, Randi Cranford, Jesse Bourgeois and Lee Bourgeois and three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Rucker, Shannon Hardin and Jayden Hicks
