Anderson leads Briarwood to 5A championship

The Briarwood Christian boys&8217; golf team won the Class 5A state championship last week at the Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile.
The Lions&8217; Rosson Anderson shot an individual title-winning 145 to held BCS oust St. Paul&8217;s High School by six strokes, 619-625.
Anderson shot a two-over par 74 in the first round on May 15, and followed that performance with a one-under par 71 on May 16 to win the individual Class 5A title.
Andrew Saunders finished second for the Lions and seventh overall at nine-over par while teammate Alan Boutwell finished 11th with a 13-over par.
Carter Slappey finished 29th for BCS at 22-over par while teammate Keaton Adams finished close behind in 30th at 23-over par.
DelGreco Wins title
Spain Park&8217;s Trey Del Greco won the Class 6A boys&8217; golf state title on May 16 at Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile.
DelGreco shot one-over par for the tournament to win the title, beating out second place finisher Cody Klein of Auburn by three strokes.
The Jags&8217; team finished third in the state tournament behind No. 1 Auburn (597) and No. 2 Hoover (601) with an overall score of 632.
Cody Wells finished tied for 14th at the event at 13-over par while teammate Clay Watterson shot 22-over par, good enough for a tie in 27th place.

23-over par to finish 29th while teammate Brian Jones finished 27-over par to finish tied for 35th place
