William Albert Cuzzort Jr., born Oct. 13, 1925, died
Saturday, April 29, 2006.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and received a medal. He was known as &8220;Dad Cuzzort&8221; on the Birmingham City Police Force where he served for 25 years and was known for never having to pull his gun. He also served as director of security for Birmingham Public Library and director of courthouse security for Shelby County Sheriff&8217;s Office.
He was married to Ruby Louise Cuzzort for 35 years; was father to seven children, Sammy Sanford, Dennis Sullivan, the late Al Cuzzort (Aug. 21, 1950-Nov. 15, 1995), Marie Cox, Linda Coogan, Renee Dykhouse and David Cuzzort; and was paw-paw to 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Service was May 2 at Ridout&8217;s Roebuck Chapel with burial in Oakhill Cemetery in Oneonta, Ridout&8217;s Roebuck Chapel directing
