Shelby County authorities are still investigating the death of a 41-year-old Sterrett woman found floating in a small pond near Westover last Wednesday.
A 911 call placed by a local resident around 11:10 a.m. alerted Shelby County sheriff&8217;s deputies of a possible drowning victim off Highway 280 near Rooster Hill Road.
The woman, later identified as Elaina Carden Walker, was discovered in a wooded area behind some vacant rental trailers, officials said.
Sheriff&8217;s deputies responded to the call along with Westover and Harpersville volunteer fire departments and ambulance personnel.
Walker was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where efforts to revive her failed, officials said.
The Shelby County Sheriff&8217;s Office was awaiting the results of an autopsy from the state&8217;s forensic sciences department as of presstime Tuesday, according to Capt. Chris Corbell
