The Spain Park Lady Jags’ bid to upset two top ten teams in a week fell short Monday night as SPHS fell to the rival Hoover Lady Bucs, 50-43.
After dropping No. 9 Thompson on Friday night, the Jags looked to do the same to top ranked Hoover.
Spain Park took an early lead in the game, outscoring the Bucs 16-10 in the first quarter. But Hoover’s Lyndsey Harris exploded offensively in the second quarter, hitting four three-pointers and scoring a total of 14 points to give her team a, 27-24 halftime lead.
The Lady Jags looked like they would rebound a number of times in the second half, moving within a score of Hoover all too often. But Spain Park was unable to keep any momentum in the last two periods of play.
