MHS beats Holt, falls to Jemison

Montevallo’s High School softball team moved to 6-4 on the season after beating Holt on the road last week before falling to Jemison at home.
Senior pitcher Katie Jones continues to shine for the Lady Bulldogs, carrying a 0.76 ERA into last weekend.
Jones has pitched every game for Montevallo so far this season, striking out 61 and walking only 20 in 55 innings of work.
She picked up her sixth win last week at Holt, fanning eight in a seven-inning complete game.
Playing without five regular starters, Montevallo downed Holt 8-1. Four batters had multiple-hit games for Montevallo.
Lauren Stephens went 3-for-5 while eighth-grader Kylie Stansell and senior Dee Dee Ray each had two RBIs for the Lady Bulldogs.
Montevallo then fell to Jemison at home, 2-1.
Two sixth-inning errors led to Jemison’s two runs.
Jones struck out eight in seven innings and was charged with the loss.
She was also 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.
Montevallo left seven runners in scoring position in the defeat.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action March 28 at Oak Grove
