Special to the Reporter
Orr Park will become a wonderland of lights beginning tomorrow, Dec. 9 and continuing through Dec. 21 when the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce hosts its first drive-through Christmas on the Creek.
According to Cynthia Shackelford, chamber volunteer, the festival of lights will include thousands of lights transformed into shapes of the season such as Santa, reindeer, toys, nativity scenes and more.
Admission for the event which will be held every night from 6-9 p.m. will be a donation of $5 per car or $4 per car with a coupon. Shackelford reported coupons are available at Montevallo businesses and other locations.
She said the December issue of &uot;Chamber Chatter,&uot; a chamber publication, also includes a discount coupon that may be clipped and presented at the drive-through.
&uot;Hundreds are expected to visit the drive-through light festivities,&uot; said Ben McCrory, executive director of the Montevallo Chamber of Commerce. &uot;And we are expecting visitors not only from the Montevallo community, but also from numerous surrounding cities and communities.&uot;
McCrory said dozens assisted with the chamber’s first festival of lights.
&uot;I would like to especially thank James and Annette Blackmon and Betty Brant for their generous donation of the decorations they have built up over the years, and to Dixie Decorations who donated their time and employee hours to the needed repairs of the lights and figurines.&uot;
