AHSAA football all-stars named

Teams and coaches for the North-South football teams competing during the eighth annual Alabama All-Star Sports Week July 12-17 were recently announced by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association.
Five players from schools in Shelby County were named to the North squad.
Briarwood Christian’s John Post will represent the Lions on the defensive line, with Calera’s Tim Baker joining the players named to the offensive line.
The skill positions feature Shelby County High’s LaRico Crumpton at wide receiver and Spain Park’s Terrance Harville at running back.
Nick Thomas, from Oak Mountain High School, will handle kicking duties for the North squad.
Head coach for the North football team is Jay Brown of Pell City High School. Brown guided the Panthers to a 12-1 record in 2003, his second season at the helm. His career record is 31-24. He previously coached at Guntersville and McAdory high schools and at Jacksonville State University.
His assistants are Jeff Bonner of Oakman, Dale Jeffreys of Red Bay, Kevin Rose of Sheffield, Josh Niblett of Oneonta, Drew Noles of Boaz, and Curtis Coleman of Huffman.
The event will include in-state all-star games in various sports
