Man killed in Monday accident

A 19-year-old Clanton man was killed in an accident that shut down Interstate 65 on Monday, according to State Troopers.
The two-vehicle accident occurred one mile south of Alabaster’s Exit 238 on Interstate 65.
Troopers report Larkin Booth Strong, 19, of Clanton, who was driving a 2000 Chevrolet
Tahoe traveling northbound on I-65, was fatally injured when his vehicle hit tire debris in the road and spun out of control, crossing the median into southbound I-65 traffic.
Strong was transported to Shelby Baptist Medical Center and pronounced dead there.
Troopers report Strong was hit by a tractor trailer truck driven southbound by Tommy Lee Ragland, 73, of Margaret. Ragland was injured and transported to HealthSouth.
The accident remained under investigation as of presstime
