'Chopper' and wife arrested and charged with theft

Published Sunday, June 28, 2009

— David "Chopper" Strevel and his wife, Sonia, have been arrested and charged with first-degree attempted theft and filing a false financial statement following a two-month investigation.

Alabaster Police arrested Sonia on Friday, while officers served the warrant on "Chopper" at the Shelby County Jail, where he is currently being held.

"The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges may be pending," said Alabaster Police Deputy Chief Curtis Rigney.

"Chopper" was arrested and charged with three counts of probation violation on June 3 following a 2008 guilty plea for scamming residents out of more than $300,000.

He was sentenced to 10 years for the 2008 guilty plea, with the first 15 months to be served at the Shelby County Corrections Work Release Center, where he was ordered to maintain a full-time job.

Although Sonia, who is being held on $6,000 bond, was not connected to the previous guilty plea by "Chopper," Rigney said it is time a judge teaches the couple a lesson.

"It's extremely frustrating dealing with the same people," Rigney said of the Strevels. "We're hoping, with these charges, hopefully a Shelby County judge can correct their ways."

Chopper and wife should get 150 years in jail.
They have no respect for themselves ,childen or others.
It breaks my heart to know them and they do something so bad . Not once but over and over again.
They hang Jesus on the cross each time they do bad things.
