UM tops golf academic list

Published Thursday, July 2, 2009

Four University of Montevallo golfers have been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Golf Team for NCAA Division II. Aaron Ebert of Huron, Ohio, Britney Martin of Fishers, Ind., Rachel Shaner of Madison and Tripp Cash of Troy helped make Montevallo the school with the most Division II golfers on the list. Eight schools had three golfers selected.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 66 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Ebert, Shaner and Cash will all return next season with a chance to repeat as members of the All-American Scholar Team.

The Falcons were the only Gulf South Conference team to be represented on the list and will join UNC-Pembroke, who had a golfer on the list, next season in the Peach Belt Conference.
